What's the difference between a WMS and an ERP with a warehouse module?
An ERP with a warehouse module covers the basics: stock, goods-in, goods-out. Fine if your warehouse is small and low-turnover. A dedicated WMS is needed once warehouse operations become a process in their own right: locations, picking waves, zoning, route-based preparation, batches and expiry dates, staff management. What a standard ERP ends up patching with parallel spreadsheets, a WMS handles within the system.
How does real-time warehouse traceability work?
Every movement — goods-in, location, picking, dispatch, return — is logged with batch, operator and time. That information is instantly available to the rest of the system: sales knows what's available, management sees what moved today, after-sales can reconstruct where a given item has been. No more stock counts that don't add up, or 'I don't know where that pallet ended up'.
Does it integrate with the ERP, the carrier or digital delivery note signing?
Yes, by design. The WMS is built from the outset to work alongside your ERP (accounting, invoicing, purchasing) and external logistics systems: carriers, gate scanners, digital signing of delivery notes on handover. Where there's no API, we build a connector. What we don't want is an isolated WMS that forces you to enter data twice.
How long does it take to implement a bespoke WMS for an SME?
We work in phases. The first phase — covering the most critical day-to-day operations — is usually live in a few weeks. Staff start using it in the real warehouse while further modules are added: batches, returns, cyclical inventory, dashboards. No blind six-month rollouts.
Does it work with the warehouse I already have, or do I need to reorganise it first?
It works with what you have today. The WMS adapts to your physical layout, not the other way round. That said, during the diagnostic some organisational inefficiency usually surfaces that's worth fixing — but that's your call, not a software requirement.
Is it worth it with just one warehouse, or only from several onwards?
It's worth it from your first warehouse if operations are intensive: high turnover, batches, time-window deliveries, traceability required by your sector. And it scales without trouble to several warehouses, intermediate hubs or consolidation points — the architecture is built to add locations without rebuilding the system.
